6 - Embassy Club Bar
Rock and Twist Ballroom
By 1969 this was the Embassy Club Bar, however at the time of the photo, this building was known as the Rock Ballroom.

By 1978, this was the Junior Showplace.

Postcard: Rock and Twist Ballroom.

Seaside rock (and roll)

The Embassy Club Bar, had raked seating around a ring where wrestling matches could be held, although I think a session of bingo was taking place when we visited.

Tony Keeble writes...

"I went to Clacton every xmas and every summer with my parents. It seems like only yesterday I was there. I remember in 1964 Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch were playing in the Embassy bar. And they let me get up on stage with them and play their drum kit! They then presented me with a set of maracas which I still have to this day.

Butlin's Clacton should be remembered as a fantastic holiday camp and I can honestly say that the memories of going there, and the fun I had there while growing up, will stay with me forever."
